DIG DEEP & THROW DOWN TODAY To support LAND BACK For the Nevada City Nisenan.
This is their last day to raise the funds more to buy back their former village site known as Woolman, owned by Quakers who need to sell
Literally anyone who’s made money in CA since the gold rush has done so while the Indigenous Tribes here have suffered genocide, land grabs, and erasure. The Nisenan Tribes were stripped of federal recognition which has caused their people to suffer even more in recent decades. This land back in Indigenous hands will offer a cultural site, a place to relate to nature, and a chance for the Tribal Members to have a place to call Home and be together for the first time in decades.
The Nisenan need to ask the public for financial support to get this last push. This is the time.
Please join me in the push- If we keep it going we’ll secure their funds for renovations too.

★ ANOTHER INCREDIBLE UPDATE ★
In case you missed the first announcement, there was an offer from a private donor on March 21st to match all donations through March 31st, up to $100,000. That match was met within 8 days! Another private donor stepped in with the same offer, to match donations made through April 4th. You all stepped up again with donating, sharing, spreading the word and we met the second $100,000 match last Sunday. Now a THIRD match of $100,000 has been offered - and we're already over $55,000 into meeting that match!!
So, between now and midnight on April 4th, all donations will be doubled, until we reach that third $100,000!

Reminder::: Phase 2 fundraising will carry on BEYOND April 4th, so there is still time to participate in this movement!

The Story of Land, Water, and People builds on the foundation of CHIRP’s Visibility Through Art (VTA) initiative. This project coordinates collaborations among artists and Tribal Culture bearers to increase public awareness and engage the public related to social justice, through the lens of environment-related issues including, land, water, and people.
This activity is funded in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency, through the Upstate California Creative Corps program, administered by Nevada County Arts Council.
